It’s so great to be part of such a strong community of runners. It always makes these events such a wonderful experience. It was blustering and cold at the start line but everyone huddled together and jumped for warmth as the start time slipped to 7:30. And the opening speech rendition of God Bless America by a surprisingly skilled Boston Police Office was beautiful.
The first mile was a bit of a mess with seven thousand people in the queue but it was a fantastic run once the pack opened up. Felt like I could do another 5 miles easily at the end of it. I maintained 8:30 - 9:00 min miles the whole time! I didn’t have to use my inhaler at all. Clearly 42deg and humid as hell is the weather that I need to aim for for my first marathon later this year =)
As I walked home through Boston Commons I figured I’d grab a quick pic at the Memorial Day memorial.
Looking forward to the Tough Mudder next Sunday!
